Stream Cutter review, ideas + Grok

Reviewed the AI stream-editing tool built with Claude and asked the only question that matters: is it ready to ship? It works on my own streams — but the scene detection is not accurate enough, and I am not convinced it solves a broad enough problem.

    • Timeline assembly working: stream, screen share and camera, normalized audio, sound effects.
    • Scene detection via ChatGPT over the transcript — accurate enough for me, not for a product.
    • Used Grok to define criteria for a B2C app I could push on X and Reddit.
    • Looked at the Step Up fitness app; weighed the risks of browser automation, proxies and platform rules.

  2. DAY 003

    Building Stream Cutter

Started building Stream Cutter — a tool that turns my long streams into editable projects instead of me cutting everything by hand.

    • Pipeline laid out: FFmpeg for audio, whisper.cpp for transcription, merge, GPT to find the interesting monologues, FCP XML out to Final Cut Pro.
    • Handling three input recordings — audio, camera, screen share — with LLM-based camera switching as a later idea.
    • Checked competitors (rough-cut and social clip tools), Reddit feedback and pricing.
    • Demand test: talk to people who actually need this workflow. Claude is on the first version.

  4. DAY 001

    The show starts

Shipping Mode begins — a show for developers who want to become independent indie hackers and make money on their own projects and apps.

    • Focus on traffic acquisition and getting the first users and customers.
    • Significantly less time on the coding part.
    • Every day gets logged here: what shipped, what moved, what the numbers did.
